Eating & Drinking in Norfolk

Norfolk has a quietly excellent food scene, built on some of the finest raw ingredients in England. Cromer crab, Brancaster mussels, salt marsh lamb, Norfolk Black turkey, and samphire gathered from the marshes — the county's produce speaks for itself. Here are our favourite places to eat and drink within easy reach of Lingwood Hall.

From riverside Broads pubs to considered city dining, the range on offer within a fifteen-mile radius is genuinely impressive.

Riverside Pubs

The Coldham Hall Tavern

Surlingham, 3 miles

A genuine gem: a small riverside pub sitting directly on the bank of the River Yare. There's no pretension here — just excellent local ales, a short menu of proper pub food, and a terrace where you can watch boats pass on the river. Particularly atmospheric in summer. Dogs welcome.

The Ferry Inn

Reedham, 7 miles

Reedham's historic inn sits beside one of the last remaining chain ferries in England. The riverside setting is unbeatable, and the menu leans heavily on local fish and classic pub fare. On warm evenings the riverside terrace fills quickly — worth arriving early. Also offers mooring for boating guests.

The Kings Head

Acle, 10 miles

A well-regarded village pub in Acle with a reliable kitchen producing solid Norfolk cooking — game, fish, and roast meats that change with the seasons. Good beer range and friendly service. A popular choice for walkers on the Wherryman's Way.

Brewery & Taprooms

The Fur & Feather

Woodbastwick, 10 miles

The tap pub for Woodforde's Brewery — one of Norfolk's most celebrated independent breweries — the Fur & Feather is a thatched, low-beamed classic. The full range of Woodforde's ales is available on draught, and the food is good traditional pub cooking. The setting in the village of Woodbastwick is picture-perfect Broads country.
